Garmin Zumo series GPS navigation systems have a trap door on the bottom of the unit. This trap door is in the way of using Gomadic brand chargers but is used to seal the unit from weather when using it on a motorcycle. When using the receiver in a car the bottom door is not needed. Removing the door simplifies the process of using a car charger. Removing the door is also necessary when using it with Gomadic brand holders. The following process will not void your warranty, at any time you can reattached the door restoring it to original condition.
To remove the door only a 1.5mm allen wrench is needed. This size of wrench is usually included an most allen wrench sets. If you do not have one your local hardware store ( Target, Walmart, Homedepot, ACE, Lowes, Radio Shack, local model shop, etc ) will carry this tool.
Lets get started and remove the door ...
1: Identify the door

2: Identify the screws on both sides of the door

3: Aquire a 1.5mm Allen Wrench

4: Remove the screws holding the door on using an 1.5mm allen wrench

5: don't forget the second screw : )

6: the doore is now removed, put the door and screws in a safe place so they are not lost

7: Your done! As show below the Gomadic brand charger can be used as shown below. Notice how the holder is oriented sideways.
